Brunswick and Coburg locals were today treated to a glimpse of the new Moreland and Coburg stations.
Renowned architecture firm, Wood Marsh, is working with the Level Crossing Removal Project to develop the modern stations. The designs preserve and integrate existing heritage station buildings while reflecting the vibrancy and diversity of the local area.
The stations will be delivered as part of the Bell to Moreland Level Crossing Removal Project, which will see four level crossings removed on the Upfield line.
The new stations will be safer and more accessible for the 3800 people that use them each day and will feature:
- Upgraded, modern facilities including waiting rooms
- Improved cycling facilities and better walking and cycling paths linking trams and buses
- Lifts and stairs making getting around easier for everyone
- Landscaped civic plazas featuring trees, gardens and more seating
The project is currently seeking ideas from the community on what they want to see in the new open space and areas around the new stations. Online feedback is open until 5:00pm Saturday 15 June at Your Level Crossing.
Construction on the new stations and level crossing removals will commence later this year, with passengers back on trains and using the new stations in 2021.
